Just curious how the climate varies as we go about our daily business. Here in south Arkansas today, it's about 99F, and very humid.

In the noon time nowadays, no less than 45 C (in the shade) sometimes exceeding 50 C. Frustrating humidity (the plant is on the gulf).

When I left home at 5:30 am yesterday it was 85 F and about 99.9% humidity. You could feel the air on your skin. It got up to 102 at lunch. It's great to live in the south. I am getting to the age and condition where I now try to hide from the heat.

The humidity is so high that you need a life jacket to walk around outside.

Hey Ronnie,

I used to go to Gulf Shores when I was a kid. I remember it as a nice little beach town full of oleanders and crepe myrtles with beautiful white beaches that squeeked when you walked across them. They even have combing equipment at night.

Is it still like that?

Having lived in the easter part of KSA, it makes Houston temperatures seem moderate, and it is difficult to want to complain about the heat down here, because it could be really hot.

Bill

Yesterday was 85 F and about 20% humidity.
Today it's about 55 F and 88% humidity(raining).
Such is life in the high desert country of Wyoming.
Around here if you don't like the weather just wait a minute, it'll change. Big Grin

No 1 in No 44 on top of the big mountain blow-off; or so they predict. You'd think it would be hotter. But such is life.

~85 here today (WV) on the OH river. Time to hit the water --- it's Friday.

Danny,
For the most part Gulf Shores is still the same. A couple of hurricanes, especially Ivan, changed the scenary quite a bit. Alot of beach errosion all along that part of Alabama amd Florida but it is still beautiful and yes the sand still squeeks when you walk on it.

Danny, you might also want to check out the old coast road, 30A, between Panama City and Destin. We stay at Seagrove Beach which is very quiet. When we set up our beach awning, there will often be no one within 50-100 feet in either direction. Smiler

At home in Kuala Lumpur it is 32 C with a chance of rain. I know this because that is what it is every day. It is really odd to watch TV news and not have a weather segment. In KL there is no need. The weeather is always the same.

However I am today in Sakhalin Island Russia. Daytime high was 14 C, with clouds and rain. We would call this winter back in Houston.

i have personally found it very offensive that these *&*^)(^)& machines we deal with every day tend to be in non-climate controlled, hot and dirty environments....and in glamourous locations. AZIMA/DLI currently monitors pieces of machinery that are:

located in non-disclosed locations all over the world (military apps - and the damn things move - frequently)
located in the in the middle of soybean fields in the south.
located in China
located in India
located in the Gulf of Mexico
located in the midwest in widely disparate locations

And the dang things do not CARE about our discomfort......

I am open to suggestion.... Smiler
