CSI - report extraction - Anyone know how to run last measurement reports on datbase or routes and extract out info into excel instead of .txt.

Thanks

I just bring the TXT file into Excel and select fixed columns. I then adjust column width and add column markers as needed to get the important data into separate columns.

Walt,

This doesn't put machine name, values, units, and positions into different cells does it?

Am I wrong in thinking you need to go the ODBC route to do this?

OOPPSSS,

Take foot out of mouth, I see what you mean Walt. You have other options available if you open the file within excel instead of opening with excel from the desktop.

Thanks for the info!!!

Thanks for the replies. I have tried running database reports on last surveys, open the txt file with excel. However it takes alot of deleting and pasting cells.

The reason for the question is as Reliability metrics have developed and more and more info is wanted, the reports in RBMware wont give me what I am being asked for.

I want to run a report on each database I have extracted into an excel file or access file, then sort based on overall in/sec. However I need to keep the Machine ID, Measurement PT, and Overall readings in tact.
If I could extract out the data based on just those 3 criteria, Machine ID, Measurement Pt ID, and Overall in/sec, then SORT by in/sec reading, I could easily give a report on the TOP "X" numbers based on overall levels.

I will then pick out the top "X" numbers and look at the data to make sure the overall is not up due to bad readings or ski slopes, then we will perform precision maintenance on these items to lower the vibration readings.

Plans will include measuring motor amps before and after precision work.

Thanks for the ideas, I am going to keep looking for ways and post any findings, but certainly appreciate all responses.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

There is a thread about setting up the ODBC here on the board. Seems to me there was instrucions you could print and everything.

If course, it was all in French... :-)

Hey Walt,

I want to say thanks again about the tip using the fixed data import. I use it with conditional formatting and it cuts down my time deciding between equipment "in alarm" and "world class" equipment.

Of course, both of these terms are defined by management and is of little use in real life.
