I have a Zonic, ADRE 208, and ADRE 408. We bought the 408 because most of what we do is related to turbomachinery, and we have lots of people with Bently experience, and so we went with what we knew.
I really like the Zonic concept, and the newer models may be better, but we have had plenty of problems with it, especially around the pcmcia card. My understanding is that they have gone to an ethernet interface like ADRE. System 1 and ADRE SPX are cumbersome to anyone who is learning them mainly because they are so complex they have to be a bit cumbersome. I have found that now that I have learned System 1, setup and use is no problem... e-mail me at steven dot schultheis at gmail dot com |

Moyes,
We have used the 208 and adre. But the 408 is very expensive. You could try the ABB MCM800 and analyst software as an alternative. Analyst_v22_Users_Guide.pdf (2,759 Kb, 19 downloads) |

If you work for ABB it would be polite to say so in such a post.

Bill,
yes sorry I do work for ABB but not in a sales role. In my role as a condition monitoring engineer I use Rockwell Enpac's, SKF dymac, SKF Analyst, Bently 3500 with 208, CSI 2120 & 2130 and lately Commtest Vb series data collectors. In this case I think the MCM800 is very similar in function to the 208 and ABB Analyst is better software than the adre. Regards Bruce |

I know its a little late, but I just had to comment on your request for different views on using ADRE. We have used the ADRE 208 for many years and I agree with you that it was very easy to use, not to mention its ability to measure the needed parameters for monitoring rotating bodies.
Just recently (Nov of 2007), we purchased the ADRE 408 along with training and I have to say that it was difficult to learn at first, but once we got the hang of it, it blows away the 208. The thing I like about it is that its capability to remotely monitor through the internet. I also like the auto scaling feature during data acquisition along with its real time display of the data exactly as it happens. So I am a staunch advocate of the 408 and prefer it over the 208. Thanks Dave |
