I was wondering is someone could explain a bit more about SMP. Is this a special accelerometer? Our facility is in the process of starting up a predictive maintenance program and purchasing a CSI 2130 analyzer. Does this type of analyzer use smp?

CSI uses PeakVue. I think that by reading this board, you will see, there are a lot of fans as well as adversaries of this technique. Basically, it's all in what you get used to and how it is set up. I am personally a fan and use it quite regular. If it is set up correctly, and you learn how to calculate the alarm levels for various speeds, it is quite usefull.

X,
CSI uses PeakVue. It's a really good tool once you learn how to use it. Insist on using the training that probably came with your purchase right away and make sure that PeakVue is covered in depth. If you haven't used their AMS software before, you are going to need training on that too. If you don't have experience doing this, you should try to make an arrangement with a consultant (At least 5 years of hands on experience with CSI products) who can help you in getting things started out right. You can do it by yourself, but it isn't easy and it is more expensive when you figure in the mistakes you can prevent with a little good advice. Danny |

X,
What is it that you are asking about SMP or SPM? SPM is shock pulse method that uses a special accelerometer sensor. If you are buying a CSI analyzer, then it can't do SPM, but it can do an alternative method called PeakVue. So as Danny said, look into PeakVue. Walt |
