I have been given data taken from a Falk planetary gearbox (1000PL2-B). I have possible bearing numbers but no gear tooth counts -- Falk rep says that's classified info. I have serviced and rebuilt Rexnord planetaries in the wrench pulling days but this is my first experience with them in the vibe field. Can anyone suggest a possible source for more info. I'll attach some plots. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Clave,

DO you have the rest of the part number for the drive. The 1000PL2-B tells me its a Series 1000, the size of 000 doesn't match anything, the PL is planetary gears only, 2 reduction, model B box, but there should be some more numbers for it. 1000PL2-b (X)(NN)
The (x) we aren't worried about, as it tells about mounting variations (torque arm mod, base type, etc.) But the (NN) will be the ratio. I need that before I can find the teeth numbers.

Dave:
The planetary ratio is 41.931:1.
Ratio Combination is B5 x A2.
It's a base type mount.

We appreciate any help you can give including hints on what to look for and severity determination.

Company email is DCahill@barrick.com

Thanks again. Dennis

Dennis,

Do you have access to "The Gear Analysis Handbook" by Jim Taylor? It devotes part of one chapter to calculating the speeds and gmf's in planetary gearing and another chapter includes a detailed case history of a planetary reducer.

I think Odyssey might have a program for calculating the frequencies once Dave gets you the geartooth counts.

E-mail me if you need more info.

I forgot that e-mail is no longer a part of the profile. "dannyharvey @ machineryanalysts dot com". No spaces.
