I was wondering if anyone has used the Vib Scanner from Ludeca and how you think it compares to Entek's, CSI's or DLI's equipment and software?

We have a VibScanner from Ludeca. We have had a vendor perform our vibration analysis for years, but recently decided to have an in house unit as well, as the vendor is several hours drive away. As a relative newcomer to vibration analysis, I have found the unit to be very easy to learn to operate. If you decide to buy one, I would make sure to get the external transducer, and the FFT/Time Waveform package to go with the Omni Trend software. Good luck!!

I attended the Lubrication Conference this year and visited the Lubeca booth. I had the opportunity to check out the Vib Scanner and software. Looks like a very good system and with the additions that Ludeca plans to include in the future, it will become very powerful. Keep thinking outside the box! We currently use Entek products and are very pleased. Ludeca is comparable and will be formidable for all current vibration data collection and analysis equipment manufacturers in this catagory.
My opinion only. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Don Jones, |

Thanks for the replies.
I have been using CSI equipment for the last 5 years and will have to say I am not impressed with the Vibe Scanner or it's software. Unfortunately the coompany purchased 5 of them to give to our lubricators under the pretense that the vibration software would eventually be as good as RBMware....it has been 2 years and we are still waiting. The primary use for these units now are for strickly taking shock pulse data. We hope this will save some money by not over lubricating the equipment. |

Can you elaborate on how Vibscanner and Omnitrend fails to meet your needs - I'm looking at these as 'possibles' for our mech techs to carry out routine vibration measurements on pumps and motors. I would be interested in knowing why Omnitrend doesn't match up to RBMware for routine data collection and picking up changing vibration from trends? How robust is the Vibscanner in daily use - have you broken any? |

Buzz,
Sorry it took so long to get back. If your are starting a new vibration program and you are looking for a very basic system and are limited on funds, Omnitrend and a VibScanner may suit your needs. The one big selling point is the shock pulse technology and we are still using the units for this. Like I said I have been using RBMWare for several years and have become spoiled with all the features. Omnitrend is a very basic vibration trending and analysis program. It is not hard to operate or setup. Veiwing the data and adjusting the AP setsis where I have seen limitations. The VibeScanner has very limited memory, 4mb. Also you cannot use it for field diagnosis. |

Thanks for the comments Ken - much appreciated.
We need to start a new in-house program and a basic system is just what we need. Thanks Again.. |
