All three CSI 2130 analyzers have a ski slope and swings in the waveform. The problem is most apparent when vibration amplitudes are small. Overall readings below .1 ips are most noticable. The waveform swings are the same as if the cable is faulty. Strange that all three analyzers are doing it, which points to configuration or a common sensor/cable problem

Analyzer setup: accelerometer, Analog integration, digital overall, 1200 Fmax, 3 Hz Hi Pass, 800 lines, 4 averages, no special waveform.

One thing I did not like from the start is the accelerometer that looked very small and sensative.

I thought I would ask the group before calling customer support on Monday.

I complained to CSI about this. They resonded with a tech note on switching to analog integration. I don't want analog integration!!! I want acceleration waveforms!!! Mad

What has helped me is holding the cable againt something solid so there is absolutely no movement in the cable... none. This minimizes the ski slope, but often does not eliminate it.

As far as the smaller accel goes, it gives better high frequency response. Many of my trends had a step change increase when I put it into service. I don't like the turk (sp?) connector to the analyzer. Mine failed after <3 mos service.

If you call CSI, let me know what you find out.

Are you using 1200Hz? That would give you a digital overall filter of 3Hz or 180 cpm. I don't use CSI but with the dataPAC1500 there are problems using a low level high pass filter. How does the data look if you double the high pass filter?

We got 5 2130's about two years ago. At first we had a horrible time with ski slopes. Turns out the accels that came with them were for permanent mount not mag mount and they had LONG settling times. I believe they swapped all 10 out for us for new ones that have been great. Try putting it on your motor/PP and counting to 20 before hitting the enter/collect arrow.

The accels that we quite using say CSI real nice on them with what I think is a model #A0710GP.
Incidently they didn't even want the original accels back. Hmmm.

I'm not sure who makes CSI's acels now; Wilcoxn used to!

Most like CTC and I like a variety of 1 V/g 500 mV/g and 100 mV/g with microdot cables. I hate the big bungie cords that aren't break-away - they are a royal pain. The microdot makes life better IMHO and you can get white, red, blue depending on environment. In addition you don't have an anchor rope pulling against your transducer that you have to contend with to hold in a certain fashion while keeping your body motionless.

Cordially,
Sam
