Hi Gents, I am a new member of maintenance forum, I am a Mechanical Engineer working in the inspection, and repair of rotating and stationry equipments. And would like to have your assisatnce in some of the following matters:
1- What is the difference between electrical & mechanical Run Outs and how can we measure the electrical run outs.
2- If the axial and radial run outs of a rotor are within the acceptable limits, is there a need for dynamic balancing.
3- If we have an elliptical sleeve bearing with offesentric in vertical and horezental how can we measure trim run outs in order to set up in lathe machine.

Thanks Arne for your reply, actually we are dealing with most of rotating machinery types like compressors, pumps, steam turbine, gear boxes, and mainly the GE gas turbine. As my company is one of General Electric Companies. Here in our workshope we recive the equipment and perform the inspection and write the recommendations to repair and improve the equipment performance and reliabilty. My question the technical defeintion of the electrical run outs and mechanical run outs. We used to check both of them in the vibration probe track area. We used both the proximity probes, dial indicators, while we set up the rotor being inspected on the balancing machine, using the osiliscope.
