Maybe there is already something out there like this. Anyone have any thoughts?

My thoughts on dynamic vibration absorption. We are familiar with tuned dampers which can be attached to a bearing housing to “take” the vibration out. They are fixed and static so it wouldn’t work for a doctor frame unless we had a specific repeatable frequency to take care of. I have read about the new Honda Accura Hybrid which utilizes 180* out of phase sound through the stereo system to cancel out engine noise. The system uses a microphone to monitor and then analyze the noise and then counteract it. Could this same technology be applied to a frequency generator? A motor attached to a doctor frame which is capable of being run 180* out of phase of a problem frequency possibly caused by the beginnings of chatter? Just a thought.

Could very well be a market out there for a device like that. But consider the energy needed and the struggle to test it out in a real operating environment that is earning money 24/7. I think it is easier to add passive damping. Will at least stop chatter and barring to start and develop. Regards Arne

Magnetic bearings do this.

I believe there are a few companies doing this. Try Lord Corporation for one.
