After my reply to the balance post this week I have tried to figure out what makes a "VIEW" appear for a registered member. I have tried logging off, tried a different computer without logging in, shutdown my computer and restarted it while being logged out and I still can't get a "VIEW" assigned to my opening a thread.
I just looked at Jim's post on Shim Pack Couplings, which had no views and I was not listed as a "VIEW" either, even on another computer. How is this "VIEW" count regulated? Anyone know for sure? |

Now Jim has 16 "VIEWS" while I was typing this. STRANGE!!!!!

Maybe just a delayed refresh on the forum server.

Ralph,
Maybe you are like the comedian Rodney Dangerfield who always says he Gets No Respect!! Walt |

WOW! MAN!!! THAT HAS TO BE IT!!!!!!!
I either reply or I don't exist! "NO RESPECT". |

Well this is a new twist to "my" mystery.
I log-out, open a discussion, log-in and the number increases by 1, but the second I open the same post or even a different one, the number is instantly decreased by 1. Very strange!!! |

Ralph,
Let me understand this: if you open and reopen an even number of times, then no one will know you were there! Happy Thanksgiving, Walt |

Hi Walt,
Happy Thanksgiving to you and all the other guys on the board. What I did, was log-out of the board, open the post main page, open a discussion,(not necessarily an "even" number of times, even an odd number of times), close the discussion, click favorites and open the main page again, log-in and click favorites and open the main page again and there would be the number of views increased by one on the one I had opened while logged-out, but when I opened any discussion, the number on the one I viewed while logged-out would decrease by one and would never increase. I was trying to figure out why there were so many "views" on some of the posts and why I was not listed as a "viewer". It may be as Ron said, it takes a while to update or something. Seems like I remember somewhere long ago that a person is not included in the "view" list if they are logged-in as a member. I don't know CLear as mud, huh? |
