I heard from a guy that attended a CSI RBMware training class that you can collect a velocity and peakvue reading at the same time using a single channel 2120. Is this possible? Do you need an adaptor?

My understanding is that you can collect both points simultaneously, but only with the upgraded 2120. I don't recall what the upgrade is called or what it costs. It may be cheaper in the long run for you to upgrade to the 2130. I take a velocity and pkvue on the majority of my horizontal points and it takes no extra time for collection.

The "NO EXTRA TIME" is the key. Are you thinking of the Consultant 2120? Actually, I am now using a two channel. I forgot my single got shipped to another location. Any ideas for the two channel. I know it can be done but I need some direction.

The 2 channel 2120 consultant will take both at the same time if you have the points grouped, use the 624A split input adapter and the AP sets are set up just right. I tried it with my 2120 and didn't want to go through the hassel of changing all of my AP sets. I think there is a tech note on their website that lets you know what you have to do. Also I'm not sure what version of RBMware you have to be running to set it up in the database. I believe it has the information in the software manual for setting it up.

Where do you work in Evansville?

I have no idea about the single channel 2120, but the 2120-2 will do it using a split adaptor. The key is in the software setup. You must link the two measurement points using the group function in the PC software. I think you still must start at group 20. It's in the manual. The first measurement point would look something like group 20 / channel 2. The next measurement point would be set to Group 20 / channel 1. These two channels will then work together. The channels can have different AP sets. You the set on for velocity and the other for a peakvue point. Make sure the analyser is set to dual channel.

The 2120 will not take simultaneous data. The 2120-2 and the 2120-A Consultant will both take simultaneous data as well as the 2130. You can use the 628 adapter with two accels and collect data simultaneously as long as the same AP is used. You could take two horz points, then two PeakVue points, etc. You can also use the 624A split input adapter to collect simultaneous data with ONE accel. Now you can get velocity data and PeakVue at the same time as long as the AP sets are close. The problem is that the 2120 is a dual-channel instrument and not a true 2-channel instrument like the 2130. There is some shared circuitry between the two channels that make you keep the AP sets similar. There are a few "do's and don'ts" to watch out for. Don't take an analog waveform in your velocity point. Don't set a 500 Hz fmax in your velocity point. These will kick you back to consecutive collection rather than simultaneous collection. As Waylon said, start the groups at 20. Make the first point channel 2 and the second point channel 1. If you don't do this, the 2120 won't auto-advance to the next point. The two fmax sets don't have to be exact, but they do have to be fairly close. All of this sounds like a pain, but it is well worth it.

The extensive criteria for simultaneous data collection can be found in the techincal notes section of CSI's website.
