On the old board we had several threads identifying links to articles on vibration, alignment, balance. One of these old messages is attached. But it is probably out of date (old links not valid). Let's build another one.

Thanks Howard. There is some good info on our websites. Some day I'd like to understand the intracasies of MCA.
Below are some websites I have found useful. I put a number in front - my subjective ranking 1 (best) to 10. Just based on whether it had what I was looking for. Sorry if I have left off some good ones or ranked them wrong. Please feel free to post more. [1] TAMU Turbo and pump symposium papers http://turbolab.tamu.edu/pubs/papers.html [2] The NTN Engineerig catalog has good info: http://www.ntnamerica.com/Engineering/Engineering_Main.htm [3] SDRL course on vibrations (mathematical) with problems worked in Matlab http://www.sdrl.uc.edu/ucme662/ucme662.html [1] Engineering Dynamics papers (somewhat theoretical) http://www.engdyn.com/papers/papers_table.htm [3]Iris power articles on electrical machinery http://www.irispower.com/techpapers/ [2] Bureau of Reclamation - good articles on machinery lubrication, testing of solid insulation, keeping motors windings dry, electrical connections http://www.usbr.gov/power/data/fist_pub.html [5] Army Corp of Engineers Engineering manuals, including lubrication, grouting http://www.usace.army.mil/inet/usace-docs/eng-manuals/em.htm [4] Herguth articles. Good comprehensive article on physical properties of oil http://www.herguth.com/technical.htm [4] UWA Belt theory http://www.mech.uwa.edu.au/DANotes/V-belts/home.html#top [4] Update international Vib Book (on-line) very practical http://www.update-intl.com/VibrationBook.htm [5]Vibrant Technologies Modal analysis papers http://www.vibetech.com/TechPapers.htm [4]Turvac alignment info http://www.turvac.com/ [6]Baker motor testing articles http://www.bakerinst.com/BakerWeb/Services/Support.htm [7]Machine design course including gears, belts, bearings http://www.tech.plym.ac.uk/sme/desnotes/desintro.htm [9]TAMU lab academic articles on motor vibration http://www.ee.tamu.edu/~empelab/publications.html http://www.dspguide.com - on-line DSP textbook Entek had some good papers from Enteract conferences. I don't know where on their site those papers have moved to. Although there is a backdoor way to access some of the papers: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%...tekWebST.nsf%2Ffiles Does anyone know an easier way to access these? CSI had some good papers. I don't know where on their site those papers have moved to. Does anyone know how to access them? This message has been edited. Last edited by: electricpete, |

Since I have most of my technical research links at work, all I can contribute from home are these few. I have time for this board at home, but little it at work. [IT Big Bro is watching!]

That SKF Interactive Engineering Catalogue is a handy one. I use it often.
Here is one that is heavy on theoretical analysis of motor vibration from Timo Halopinien (who posted on the board) and his colleagues. Items available for free download are bolded. Make sure to check all the years (on the left). http://www.tkk.fi/Units/Electromechanics/publications/index.html |

Here is a great document to assist in evaluating bearing failures:

Is this the CSI stuff you were looking for Pete?

Yes, that's it. That CSI "Dr. Know" website is a great resource. Thanks for helping me find it again.

Those are good practical motor articles, Bill.
Here's one with a lot of theoretical rotodynamic stuff http://www.rotordynamics.org/technical_papers.htm |

Pete,
Regarding the Enteract papers, yes they are very nice collection of practical and promotional stuff. I tried for months to find out a way reach them but unfortunately I could not after Rockwell automation purchased the company. Actually, I was really happy to see such good stuff provided freely on the web. Before the files were blocked I downloaded (maybe in 2002) a zipped file of 27 Mb for one year (1997). I clearly remember a strange note there for purchasing the CD of the same downloadable material. I still do not know if the availability of the conferences/papers was by an intention or by a mistake.
