Has anyone set up a report (on odyssey) to get the average Vibration levels of all machines on a plant on a monthly basis. To get a rough idea if your CM program is effective

A couple of years ago we set up some .xls spreadsheets and trended Vibration Index in Velocity, equipment in alarm and % of equipment in alarm, linestop criticality, then separate graphs per unit.
Initially it was a very slow process and dragging the report out of Odyssey took time, but setting up macro's has made it easier.
Since we did some modifications with our computer systems, we now get errors occurring. Confused I need to spend time looking into the reporting part of Odyssey to see where the error is. Confused

I have designed some reports in Emonitor before but not one with that data. If you have an ESAFE agreement call support and they might give you some help selecting the right fields for your report.

Other methods we have used to look at the programs effectiveness was to look at overtime work decrease, decrease in emergency repairs, decrease in rotating equipment repair cost or limiting the number of repetitive problem machines.

Glenn,

Assuming you want an overall plant velocity average. I created a report in Odyssey that only displays the magnitude velocity reading at each point in the plant (I modified the %Change Report). Recall a list that has the points you want to average. Call up the report and make sure the box is checked to "write report to text file." After the report is displayed a text file is created in the Odyssey folder "report1.txt." Each report you display will create a "report(number).txt" file. The "number" is the sequence number of the report -- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. report that you created. Each time you close Odyssey and reopen it the sequence starts over again and overwrite the previous reports. Find the report(number).txt file in the Odyssey folder and open it in Excel. Highlight the column that has the current (last) readings plus the empty cell below the column of readngs. If there are any blank cells in the column of readings, delete those rows first and then high the column plus one cell. Click on the "Autosum" button in Excel and it should add the total for the column. Divide the sum by the number of rows and you have the overall plant average.
