Keith,

Yes, Odyssey is user friendly about the access for the oil analysis data, and the infrared. The infrared image is stored as an active-x file, and accesible. The oil analysis data must have a script or be one of the "canned" oil labs so that the data is in the right format and will import into Odyssey.

I would caution you though, to think about what you want to do with the oil data. It has been my experiance that you can't beat a man at his own game. And most oil labs (not all but most) have a very compact report that you can't duplicate in Odyssey very easily. Remember that each wear item is a field (measurement) in the database, comments, etc. require seperate fields also.

I believe that the ability to pull stuff like this in is great, and allows the full use of "open architecture" for whatever you want to do with it. However, I never found it to be a real practical application with the oil data.

The infrared image is good for a history tab, if nothing else. It makes the reports look good.

To each his own though. Good luck.

Dave

We have both - oil data imported into Odessy as well as Herguth which provides the compact report available anytime on-line. I have to agree Herguth's report is much easier to see at a glance. E-monitor seems to limit you to plotting one parameter at a time. Maybe there is some way to do it with report-builder but I don't have the time to figure it out.

I'm not involved in importing the data. I think Herguth sends us some electronic data that makes the import a fairly automated process (no manual data re-entry).
