Dear all;
To collect a TWF I learnt that I should choose the following parameters: 1) Fmax - atleast to collect 6 rev 2) Parameter - the parameter of the sensor ( Acceleration in case if an accelerometer is used) 3) Average - 01 4) Window - Rectangular 5) lines - 1600 / 3200 I have collected a signature with 1) No average 2) Fmax - 10000Hz 3) lines - 1600 My Question? A time wave form collected using the said parameters will have amp in terms of g ; My software is having an option of Time signal velocity and time signal acceleration for a single measuring point Which I should use for Interpretation for best Explore your Knowledge |

I always find raw signal best to display for TW.
So use acceleration per what you "learnt". Perhaps others on this forum can explain a good reason for looking at TWF in velocity ?? Since you dont state speed of machine, I have no idea if your Fmax is correct. Again, use what you learnt. 6 to 10 revs in display would be typical depending on what detail your looking for. Jim P |

Prabhu,
It depends on the type of machinery you are monitoring and are you using this data for trending or troubleshooting? Regards, Erik Concha erik.a.concha at shell dot com |

Hi
Time wave form is best suited for vibration analysis of antifriction bearings and gear teeth problems.It is apt to use acceleration in terms of Gs(pk-pk) if you are using accelerometer as sensor.Integrating acceleration to velocity often produces errors and we may not get accurate data.The impact force can be directly measured as acceleration. In my opinion its acceleration for the sake of accuracy and correctness of data.I use strictly acceleration TWF for bearings condition assessment. thank you Arun K |
