I have been using the Firefox browser a lot lately, and it seems to load pages on this site much faster than Explorer does. It also has a built in spell checker which works when posting stuff here. It is free with lots of cool extensions. You might want to give it a try.

That's Mozilla.com that has the little fire fox. I think fox fire is a set of books on mountain folk lore.

I use it half the time.

A great add-on for firefox is "no-script". It allows you very easy interactive real-time control of whether a site you visit can run javascript or not. Helps to close one of the many doors that people have for getting inside your computer.

I've been using it for a number of years. Mostly good and has some really neat features especially like the one Pete mentioned. However, some sites you enter with security has their functionality based mainly on IE and therefore IE will work better on those sites.

Yes, I used Firefox since Netscape was lost. It does comply to standards that IE in Billy manor don´t. Also look at Thunderbird for email, would prefer Camaro -71 but you can´t have it all. Olov

I use firefox for most (95%) of my browsing. The hackers tend to stay away from making viruses that run from that system. Presently I am using the version 3.5 release candidate. Rusty is right about having the spell checker built in. I really like that part as I am prone to the too many fingers on keyboard error.

The 5% I use Internet Explorer are the sites that just wont let me use Firefox.

If you liked Nescape you may love SeaMonkey

It is a browser from Mozilla - could be a little more advanced than firefox.

Anyone have comments on their experiences?

I have been using Google's Chrome browser for over six months now, and really like it.

It is fast and very stable. There is some info about its features/benefits here:
http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/index.html

If you like all of Firefox's add-ins and extensions, forget about Chrome. If you detest the performance of IE and simply want a decent browser, its worth a look.

A very few sites will not function correctly with Chrome, but for that I have Firefox Smiler

This will answer most: FF is a browser while seamonky basically is enhanced Mozilla - both FF and SM are from Mozilla.

Seamonky is a suite and functions much like outlook as it has a mail client, etc...

You'll also find the ship's wheel on
Seamonkey as eluding to Netscape.

Everyone has their favorite. I just love Opera. Have used for for more +7 years. Opera was the original "tab-browser", handles e-mail, mouse gestures, a lot faster than firefox, safari or chrome.

oh, and opera just released their alfa version of opera unite.

Firefox also has lots of free extensions, such as Adblock Plus which does a good job of blocking ads, like the banner ad at the top of this page. And did I mention the spell-checker which checks everything you type in the browser window, like this post for example.
