The readings on the generator have been going up for the pass year. Then only frequency that has gone up is the 30 Hz. I can see it from the end of the generator through the gearbox and through the turbine. There are no unusual frequencies on the gearbox and the turbine other then the 1X of the geanerator (30Hz). The 1X on the generator horizontal and vertical are also going up but not like the axial.

Thank you

Few Questions

Sleeve bearings on generator?
Phase between generator and gearbox?
Phase between generator bearings, all directions?
Type coupling?
If sleeve bearings, are there retainer set screws in th top cap?
Is the system on a common base?
Is the thrust bearing on the non drive end?
What is the amplitude in the axial on the non drive bearing?
Is ths phase together in the axial on both ends?
Do your readings come from a prox probe or transducer?

Check shaft movement with a strobe in the axial direction. You should be able to see 10 mils movement, to tell if the axial movement is all in the housing or the shaft or both.

Look at the coupling with a strobe if it can not be shut down to inspect it. I would check the condition and alignment.

Then check bearing clearances.

Hi Ralph Thank for the help
Here are the answers to the question you asked.
I believe this is misalignment but the Rep says it is minimal. The orbits I took with accelerometers show me an inside loop at the coupling end which I believe is a resonance, but the non drive end orbit looks like a potato chip which would indicate misalignment. All my phase reading indicate misalignment. I looked at the coupling with my strobe light but didn't see any problem or movement off the shaft.
1) The generator as sleeve bearings
2) Out of Phase between the generator and gearbox.
3) Out of phase in all directions.
4) The coupling is a solid mount. No grid no gear, solid Machined surfaces
5) Not that I have seen or know off
6) The generator is on it's own base the gearbox and turbine are own the same.
7) I don't believe there is a thrust bearing do to the fact that the generator is solid coupled to the gearbox.
8) The axial reading non drive end is .34 in/sec Pk
9) The Axial phase is out 331 degrees
10) The readings are take with 100 Millie volt Accelerometer
