If it is helpful to thermographers dealing with electrical equipment, I found a copy of the MIL-STD-2194 in Adobe Acrobat and have made it available.

The following is from one of my June 2005 newsletters:

Obsolete Infrared MIL Standard Sets Electrical Limits

An important standard for maintenance had been obsoleted in the 1990’s, but is often still referenced today. The MIL Std 2194 “Infrared Thermal Imaging Survey Procedure for Electrical Equipment,” which is approved for public release with unlimited distribution. As part of another project, we have found a copy and have made it available to you, our newsletter recipients.

The standard covers normal loading requirements for electrical infrared surveys, severity codes based upon ambient versus component temperature differences and includes a recommended structure and outline for an infrared survey report.

Download the document from: http://www.motordiagnostics.com/presentations.htm under the heading: T-Solutions 2005 Technical Papers.
