We have a Flir P65 and are changing the batteries out about once every two years. The batteries are about $200 each.

I was wondering if we could take a small 12 volt gel cell (about the size of a lawn mower battery, attach a car adapter with the right output and plug it into the back of the camera. This would be a lot more inexpensive and give longer run time on the camera.

Go to www.batteryspace.com and they have a video camera battery pack for about 120 that comes in a fanny pack with a car adapter on it and a smart charger for about $120. They are 6 volt 1100 Mah packs that will run a system all day and last for a long time. I have been using the same pack for over 2 years.
