Hi
Do you guys have a IR scan program or route for predictive maintenance at a Combined Cycle plant? Regards Claudio R |

Pls state your plan first and others can comment either to include or exclude. Anyway, do you want to include both electrical & mechanical equipment into your thermoscan route?

Both Electric and Mechanic Equipmnet should be included. Detection of losses in the thermal cycle and early failure identification in critical mech/electrical equipment.

Sound like you already started the program? What benefits have you gained from IR scan PM route so far? How long to complete one route?

Hi Claudio,
Like Vibration, we have separate route for thermography also.. Depending on the criticality we have monthly, bi-monthly,6-monthly and yearly schedules. But most of our equipments are electrical panels. If you are starting a program, it is better to concentrate on electrical devices than mechanical because they may give you easy results. It doesn't mean that thermography is not successful for mechanical devices!! Have a nice day!! |

I thought it was just mentioned that the PM frequency should not be set up upon the equipment criticality. Rather based on the equipment failure development period (lead time to failure or the PF curve). How to determine failure development periods for electrical equipment?
