Does anyone know of a book or training material that gives detailed information on scanning roofs with an IR camera?

Check out the Snell IR website. They have a great deal of resources posted and linked on their site.

What kind of roof is this? Is it a building roof? Why scan the roof? For thermal efficiency?

What could be guessed/analyzed/concluded if a "hot" spot or zone is detected on a building roof? a "cold" spot or zone?

I had the luxury to hold in my hands a P-60 camera, in my hands, years ago. (Still thinking of buying one)

The camera is great for detecting moisture, water infiltration etc..

Imagine these arcondition ducts in the ceiling, water dripping (preferable in the canteen, on the bald head of an important visitor Big Grin )

People going in and out the ceiling, but they never discover were the water is coming from, because it is not raining...

If you live in humid/tropical countries where there is right now a high demand of airconditioning systems...

Usually roof scans are performed to find moisture beneath the membrane. There's an ASTM guideline -I forget the number.

There is a lot to know about roofs to scan for wet insulation. Type of roof system, Type of insulation a lot of variables give different effects, the physics involve in how wet insulation is detected and when is the best time to scan etc. Too much to explain in a few words.
