Is there an industry standard or understood expectation for "finds" when inspecting facility panels and motor starter with annual IR? % of finds/number surveyed?

This is something that we have continually struggled with.

Our %Finds typically is < 1%, but lots of panels are inspected...

There must be a better metric!

I would say we have less than 1% on our regular surveys. Historically, we have surveyed critical equipment and ignored non-critical equipment. Then we had a few fires on non-critical equipment and decided to expand our program. The first time we looked at these panels we found many problems. The find rate per panel I think was more than one per panel.

In summary, you should expect lots of finds from "low hanging fruit" when you start a program, then find rate should go down dramatically.
