I've been using our Ratek Ti30 for almost two years along with ultrasound scanning as as a precursor to online motor testing, mainly from a safety standpoint. I deal in qualitative measurements and find this works well for me in scanning electical power circuits. The unit is fairly easy to use, lightweight and will store up to 100 images with a battery that lasts me all day on one charge. I obviously don't get the quality picture that our level 3 thermogragher gets with his $50,000.00 machine but I still find them like he does. The two day training class that comes with the purchase price is excellent. The top end scale of the scanner is 491 degrees F and I'd like to see that higher, but usually for my application, 491 is high enough. So far, we've not had to have it returned for repair so all in all, I'd say I love it!

I'm surprised fo find that no one else has replied to this message. Am I the only one out here in cyber space that uses one of these scanners? Or is it due to the fact that Fluke now markets this unit and others aren't aware of the Ti30 change?

I recently had a company quote a Ti30. The price was good and it was purchased by the one of our sites. As Jim says, it gets the job done and is easy to use. We use it on several predictive services i.e. Steam traps, electrical, mechanical and process screenings. It is just one of the tools for predictive inspections. The site also purchased an ultrasonic tool. These tools really work well and play off each other. If you can't see a problem with one or the other then it probably isn't a problem.

Just my 2 cents!

Thanks for the input on the Ti30. I am trying to set up a demonstration of the unit now. I am curious about what type of Ultrasound equiptment you guys are using in conjunction with the Thermographer?

EtO,
I am familiar with a couple of systems and would recommend scheduling a demo to see what model will fit your need. Check the web for other systems. The two manufacturers that come to mind are UE Systems and SDT. I'm sure there are others.
Good Luck!
