Is anyone wearing the 25 arc rating clothing? Where is a good place to purchase the clothing? What face protection and gloves are you wear during IR of switching / power lines? I'm not an electrician but would like to be within the 70E guidlines (I have a copy of it) but I'm not sure where to go for all the junk and if I should wear "prohibited approach" gear even though I would just be in the "limited approach" boundry...

Mike,
I'd surf Google with the search phrase "NFPA 70E Clothing". You should find the answers you need. I wonder how many businesses will have actually calculated the Kcal ratings on each MCC you work at? My guess is slim to none so you'll probably have to dress for the worst. A company called EasyPower offers some nice stuff for arc flash calculations. www.easypower.com i believe. Good Luck |
