From lubrication point of view, what is better? Emulsification or demulsification. I have my own views but want to know from stalwarts on this forum to confirm my views.

Not sure I understand the question.

As you know, there are three forms that water can exist in the oil:
dissolved (limited to a relatively small concentration, i.e. below saturation)
emulsified
free

Are you asking whether it is better/worse to that water to be emulsified or free ? (assuming we have a large quantitiy of water)

As Pete put it, there are 3 forms of water. Basicly free happens when the oil can not hold it any more and water becomes free in the reservoir and not entrained in the oil. Emulsified is a stage that the water is well blended (entrained) in the oil and can become free in the reservoir if more water is added or the temperature changes. Both free water and emulsified are very harmful to your system. Dissolved is not typically harmful but can be if percent is high enough. When temperature changes it can become free and this you would like to limit so not much will be present.
