I was visiting with a customer recently and he was telling me about a problem he was having with Varnish in his compressor. Apparently it is clogging the Scavenge line and/or Orifice causing carryover. He mentioned it to the OEM, who was surprised there was any varnish at all?

I did a quick Google search and found this is not-so-uncommon with scavenge systems. Has anyone had this happen? Any solutions or suggestions?

WallyGator, I expereienced this problem in many compressors driven by Gas turbine (common lube oil tank).

In some isolated cases I observedthis phenomenon in motor-gear box driven compressor and steam turbine driven compressor also.

I beleive there are atleast 3 companies which make electostatic type oil purifiers. You may search Google or even this forum. We have couple of postings regarding similar subject, here.
