We have an oil recirc system in a paper mill and are lubing and cooling dryer bearings with oil and have been trying to figure what a good temperature is for low alarm and high alarm. We are using a mineral oil and have a heat exchanger and typically get oil back down to about 130 degrees. I have talked with many people and have heard many differnt opinions on what temp you should not allow your oil get over. Would appreciate any input you have.

What are the type of bearings? Babbitt? Antifriction?
Oil operating temperature around the 140 degree F is a good number but for setting alarms the rest would be helpful. Don |
