I have been asked to be part of a team that has to produce a lubrication startegy program document. This is to be a high level document that will define how we store our lubricants, how we dispense our lubricants, how we will monitor our lubricant condition and how we will prevent contamination. It will also include roles and responsibilities of personnel within the workforce.

Has anyone had experience of producing such a document and if so would they mind sharing it with me so that I can bring some ideas to the table on how it should be structured.

To start with, there is a pretty good article on this by www.noria.com.

Don't forget about making sure you are using the correct lubricants. Also, look at how many lubes you currently purchase. There's a good chance you might be able to consolidate some of them. I would highly recommend a lube audit. You can either get one done by an independent organization (which will cost a pretty penny), or you can have one done by your oil supplier (which might be free if you are willing to enter into a long term contract with them). A lube audit will let you know where you stand now, and will also provide a roadmap for the future.
