Knowing viscosity at 40 and 100 degres, I have a graph sheet where I can draw a line to see vicosity at other temperature. I would like it more accurate. Does anybody have a calculator or a formula to do it ?
Thanks |

Check the thread at this link which you might have to copy and paste into your browser. http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=181824&page=1
Scroll about 2/3 of the way down on the first page for some input by "electricpete" a frequent contributor to this board for his spreadsheet. John from PA |

Thank you Jonh!
I found my answer with that spreadsheet and I know that we can rely on Pete's input |

Thanks. Maybe not always reliable, but this one I have double-checked
Strange that stuff from a year and a half ago on another board pops up like this. Attached is an updated spreadsheet which also includes a calculation to determine viscosity at 100C from viscosity grade and viscosity index. Usually the manufacturer gives you the 100C values directly, but one grease manufacturer would only tell me the VI and VG of the base oil. In that case, the added feature of the new spreadsheet is essential to find the two starting points which will define the curve. I put in a little work to develop the spreadsheet and it seems useful to me. Hope it will be to others. (Start with the instructions tab) This message has been edited. Hi Jean-marc
Here is something I "fixed" from Petro-Canada. Works very well. Salut, Courbes_de_viscosité.xls (234 KB, 36 downloads) |
