We have been using synthetic water based drawing compounds or stamping lubes for the last 10 years. Upon initial use we noticed it was the best paint stripper known to man. It would curdle even the toughest epoxy paints in a matter of weeks BUT it was "enviornmentally friendly".

10 years later we are now seeing the ramifications of the switch from petroleum to synthetics. It has now contaminated the main lube systems on many of our presses. Red oxide paint is falling off in sheets from the press interiors and clogging lube filters and orifices.

Has anyone else in the stamping industry encountered these problems? If so, how did you address it?
