How was the MRO World Conference? Can some post a report?

Last year was pretty good.

This year in Dallas was better. At least for us. Lots of vendor interaction. Lots of leads.

MRO was hyped up about service management software. It's not entirely clear to me what this means for the EAM community. Some stock analyst interviewed myself and a colleague about it.

Next year (2006) is at the Dolphin at Disney World.

I believe that service management software is about managing outsourced contracts, Service Level agreements and the like.

Is this what they led you to believe? (Because there are probably differences with regards to terminology)

I have always been amazed that vendor sponsored user groups are so popular. I have no bone to pick with MRO World and I have heard very good things about it.

First you give a boatload of money to purchase the software - then you pay more to network with other customers - who each share best practices!

The vendor only lets authorized "partners" exhibit and the presentations are carefully selected to represent the marketing messaging that is current with the software company.

Seems like the vendor should be paying the customer to attend and share.

There should be user group discussions for advancement purposes via eg inhouse led by CMMS support unit.
