Many of our more complicated skids of course have an equipment number. But there are also instruments, pumps and other components on the skid that also have equipment numbers that are children to the parent skid.
So each of the children equipments have spares of their own attached to them, as well as their direct replacement. If I attach the BOM to the parent, and then children replacements to the children I will not reflect the actual number of parts on the skid. I will have multiplied many of the parts. Subcomponents to the children probably won't show up on the BOM. I'm talking motor and pump bearings and such because the BOM will only list the motor/pump as a whole part. Can Maximo roll up the children subcomponents to the parent so they are visible from the parent level? If not, it should in my opinion. My perfect interface would have logical dividers between equipments, but I could see the children parts from the parent. As far as I know I have to "Move to" the child and view its spares within its own screen. Reason I ask is we are in a highly regulated environment and use the attached spares as an approved items list. If a CM work order is written to the parent skid, but the repair is actually performed on the child using child approved parts, it would be good if the child spares "rolled up" to the parent. Did that make sense? Last time I tried to explain it I didn't like how it read. Thanks, J- I forget what I just said, I wasn't listening. JW |
