I am part of a team about to implement Maximo 6 across a Port Company. We have a varied range of assets and while I have previous cmms expeience with marine mechanical plant, I am a little lost on the best ways to deal with land and buildings. Identification of land parcels and buildings whose use changes regularly is the main issue. Some people favour a building numbering system, while others suggest just changing the name when the use changes.
I would be interested in your views

Pls give examples of the use changes? Is the change permanent or temporary? I think the land parcels and the buildings should be tagged permanently and their tag should remain forever.

Buildings are not the main issue. I agree that a unique ID and permanent tag would suffice regardless of the use. The issue is really small parcels of land that are often leased short term in various configurations. Their identity becomes quite vague.
