We upgraded from Maximo 4.1 to 5.2 and Mobile Work Manager. It was a tough upgrade but it seems to be up and running pretty well now.
Some techs use the FedEx style handhelds, some use a laptop. Mobile Work Manager works well on a laptop with screen space. I do my work orders on a laptop with MWM. I don't know the plans to move to Maximo 6.x. There is some talk about the benefits that 6.x provides over 5.x. JW Data... want to make something of it? |

Our Maximo upgrade from 4.1.1 to 6.2.1 was successful for the most part. Our IT folks are still working on a punch list, which we keep adding to, but most of the items are enhancements, reports, and screen changes. Functionally, 6.2.1 has worked well.
We installed Mobile Inventory Manager, and it has been less successful. IBM has been working closely with us to resolve the issues, so hopefully things will get better soon. Due to the problems with Mobile Inventory Manager, we have not yet installed Mobile Work Manager. However, I'm looking forward to getting started with it soon. I see Maximo as a very powerful tool that we need to utilize more and integrate further into our maintenance management process. We still have a long way to go, but I believe we are better off than we were this time last year. Shelley |

initially, we wanted to start using PDAs with 4.1.1 but due to too many customizations we were encouraged to upgrade to 6.0, which we did. Sorry to say, after the upgrade, our contractors are not using the PDAs because they keep locking up due to server issues or mis-entries on their part i.e.,entering future dates.
We installed MMWM software and it too has fell short of our expectations. Contractors can not scan an asset for history purposes, unless there is an open work order against that particular asset. We are now being told that we need to purchase Maximo Mobile Auditor for asset tracking, which translates to more licenses and $$$. A major complaint from our requestors is in regards to the Service Request Page. After submitting a request, the page does not de-populate and will not except any additional request until the requestor exit the page and returns. Very user unfriendly and results in duplicate submittals. We are being told to upgrade to 6.2 because this anomaly has been corrected. Other issues we are experiencing deal with Routes, Service Contact Renewal and Attachments or the lack thereof. All feedback is welcome! |

Glad to see your vision of the system seems pretty positive so far. I have been a MAXIMO users for about 7 years now, from 4.1, 5.2 and now 6.0. I really enjoyed working with teh application, but i want to push it to the fields.... i am really interested in the mobile Work Manager application. Any info will be really appreciated on how it performed, what kind of devices you have been usign and what company did you use for the integration .... Thanks |
