Has anyone conducted, or know of, an "In-House" survey to evaluate how their current CMMS/EAM solution is meeting the needs, and/or expectations, of the end users (stakeholders)?

The focus of our efforts is determine what's working and what isn't both from a systemic point of view as well as how our "Work Control Center" is performing.

We're curently using the Equipment & Plant Maintenance Module of JD Edwards (World Version). Understandably, since this is a character based system ("green screen")most users consider it "unfriendly"! Unfortunately, since this is a corporate system, changing to a more user friendly system is highly unlikely although we'd like to make the most of what we have. Hopefully by surveying the users we'd like to obtain their input and thoughts, both on the system and how it's being administered.

Any help would be appreciated!

I have used the information of the book Benchmarking Best Practices in Maintenance Management from Terry Wireman.
The book has the results of a survey conducted mainly in the USA, and the 30 pages of questionnaire, with rating are included. To audit your system, give the questionnaire to 3 different people and analyze the outcome.

The term "user friendly" is very subjective. Most people will call any CMMS user unfriendly because you have to write more than 3 things on different places on the screen, and in IMO is an excuse for not using it.

Steve,
Thanks for the tip. I believe I have the book already and will check it out.

I agree. Having any type of CMMS is better than not, and friendly or unfriendly it should be used. I think is more of a culture issue. Frowner

Denny if you already have the book, send me an e-mail savanels_at_cq-link_dot_sr
I have developed an excel application to execute the survey described.
