Over the last 20 years I’ve worked with 3 different CMMS systems with two claiming to be web based; they weren't. Today, working for a municipality they have set Infor EAM as the standard for the entire city. Currently at the implementation phase and so far the web architecture is working out very well from all locations. The real test will be when we roll out the mobile devises for our area (the airport) is completely Wi-Fi. Prior to leaving my last employer, one of the divisions were changing from TMA client/server to there new web based TMA and they were ecstatic with the results. Before making the leap to web base make sure that you have complete buy-in from all aspects of your organization, especially from senior management. There needs to be someone to take ownership and drive the process and product forward. Ensure that your IT staff can support the project, if not you will need to look at out-sourcing to a data warehouse which can add to the cost of maintaining the CMMS. Good Luck with your search.

Bryan,
I saw your question being posed about a web based CMMS program and wanted to respond. I have personally worked with over a dozen programs over the last 20 years including Maximo 2.0 through their newer version 5.0 (both networked and web based), Datastream (now Infor) 7i and their desktop MP2 program and even Tero’s Web Work program. I have used Mainstar, Mainsaver, Micro Main, and others that I no longer recall. The company that I work for, TMSS (Technical Management SolutionS), has assisted companies for the last 7 years in choosing and implementing a CMMS program. We chose to work with people based on their needs, and not the software first. To answer your questions about how they compare, I would say it depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a basic work order system, inventory control, or equipment (asset) management, they equal or exceed “standard” systems. Some web based programs (Maximo and Infor) are quite large and cumbersome. Some programs like Web Work are smaller and more easily used (both by users and system administrators). Feel free to contact me directly if you want. Dwayne Hartranft Maintenance Project Manager TMSS, Inc. Dwayne.hartranft@tmssusa.com 505-792-4008 ext 104 |

Dwayne, thank you but you are the second person to promote Webwork here. See below
Can we please try not to use the forum as an blatant advertising vehicle? I thought I had already made it plain that I have no interest in vendors' opinions on their own products. |

Bryan,
I understand your response, and I did not mean to sound as if I was promoting a specific product. I wanted to let you know that I have used various CMMS programs, including 3 differeent web based (Infor’s 7i, Maximo’s 5i, and Web Work). In my job, which has been to recommend CMMS programs, I have dealt with quite a few programs. Your original question had been has anyone used web based CMMS programs. I can answer that I have, and have a good knowledge of the pros and cons of the three major ones that I have personally used and implemented. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them. |

Dwayne, actually my original question was, "anyone who is using a web based CMMS. I used the present tense and there is a difference. Regarding your offer to contact you directly, this is not in the best interests of the forum where the information should be offered to all members. I would be happy to hear about your experiences. |
