How free is free cmms? Don't they give free for a basic cmms such as just to record a job need to be done and then earn money when the client ask for more functionalities?

We are a CMMS software developer for 20 years. I'm in a strange position to help you with this question but at least let me ask you some questions: 1- what support can you have if you need help? 2- how many new versions or improvements will you have in the future ? 3- How many hours (of your time or others) will you use to set it up properly and make improvements? 4- Who will help you with the "implementation"; I mean looking at the software functionalities and at your needs and make the bridge.

What happen if there is a major bug with the system ... who is going to help you to fix it while your boss will start to loose his patience because he doesn't have the right inventory value numbers ? In fact I think it's better to know the real cost at the beginning instead of hoping it will be and stay "free".

As I said, I'm on the right side of the barrier ... but I hope these questions will help you make your decision. Wink

I would agree. Free CMMS software (like all free software) has its limitations and your plant could be left very exposed at any time in the future is you have a serious problem with this.

Free CMM Systems are a bit like in-house developed systems. They are OK until the person who knows how they work is no longer available. Then the proverbial hits the fan. Wink
