How many types of time-based and condition-based maint strategies do you set up in CMSS for frequencies of PM?
Do you set up something like these: Time-based: 1 weekly until 48 weekly Running hour-based: 1K, 2K, 4k,..., 8k,...48K Additional strategies may be required as follows: 1 monthly until 172 monthly 1 yearly until 6 yearly Do you see adavantages & drawbacks of doing so as above? I do not use Maximo, but I'm curious: "1 yearly until 6 years"
Why the time limit? What happens when the sixth year ends? *** does the strategy resets and start a new six year cycle? or *** the user (Planner?) must enter and edit/set/reset the strategies again? Darth Eugene Vader |

Eugene, PMs in Maximo can have more than one Job Plan assigned, with different ones coming due based upon the PMs frequency and the number of performances. For example, there might be a PM called 'motor maintenance', with a frequency of 1 Year. You assign a Job Plan called 'Annual Inspection' with a sequence of 1. You assign a Job Plan called 'Overhaul' to the PM with a sequence of 5. Every time the PM is performed an internal counter increases by 1. When the counter hits 5, the PM is assigned the Job Plan 'Overhaul', replacing the ‘Annual Inspection '. After the 'Overhaul' has its Work Order generated, the counter goes to 6 and the Job Plan switches back to the 'Annual Inspection'. Regards, Larry Johnson, CMRP |

Thanks Larry, in the CMMS that I have worked with, I set (for example) a "Overhaul PM" for a 5 years frequency with a start of cycle date, then the CMMS calculate the next Overhaul PM date from there. When the first Overhaul PM order is released the CMMS calculate the new "next Overhaul PM" due date. In this way if I set a planning horizon long enough I could see the upcoming sheduled orders with the five years separation between them.

I guess have to add more years after 6 years which the maximum interval I have at the moment.
However, I got a little problem with the weekly frequencies such as 4 weekly=1 month, 12 weekly=3 months (1 quarterly) & 48 weekly=1 yearly because they are not exactly the same. Any idea to rectify this problem? Forget about the CMMS brand (which I forgot to the general term) so that all CMMS enthusiats can participate. |
