I wonder if there is any standardization in the many data-tables of EAM/CMMS.
It is very usefull for CMMS-users to have standardized picklist for e.g. Failure-modes, workorder-codes, priorities, type of equipment, and so on.

With kind regards,

Geoffrey, I think that user formatted pick lists are provided on lots of CMMS systems because the software vendors know that standardisation of these items is not really possible.

Most people prefer to be able to input their own pick list options and this is reasonable because of the differing requirements in different industries or even within the same industries.

Geoffrey,

My company tried to standardize these items and left it up to each business unit. Even five plants with the same process couldn't agree on the pick lists...

I have just returned from a meeting with this very same topic, in that we wish to standardize our pick list to help establish standardized reporting. What I have heard from the post and other sources, and some attempts of my own in the past is that this may not be a very rewarding effort.

The standardization of picklists would have to be broken out by sector, i.e Healthcare vs. Higher Education vs, Corporate, etc.

These lists are further narrowed by the need to align with the nomenclature utilized by the organization's financial system at integration points

I have some lists compiled from my experience if people are interested.

just email me.
