Do anybody knows a link where the concept of median ranks calculation that you need to perform a Weibull Analysis is fully and easily explained?

Les,

I would strongly recommend the Weibull Handbook by Dr Bob Abernathy. Is a collection of course notes and practical examples, refers a lot to their software for context, but still remains a stand-out reference for this area with me.

Les,

If your mother language is spanish, as I suspect it is, it will be easy for you to understand portuguese. I attach two snapshots of my last book "Apoio à Decisão em Gestão da Manutenção", published in Portugal in 2004. They cover median ranks calculation and censored data. The book comes with plenty of examples and exercises that can be solved using the Excel files that are included.

Hope this helps (espero que estas informações sejam úteis).

Rui

Thank you gentlemen, your information was very useful for me. I requested such information because we were trying to let more people in the plant to know about how we can improve our performance using Reliability. But the most of the questions from people in this subject of Weibull Analysis is about the meaning or interpretation of the Median Rank Concept, not only know an equation to apply but furthermore to know about its real meaning maybe explained with words and I must confess, it's something difficult for me to explain this concept in an easy way for them. So if you know about some other resources talking about the theme I would really appreciate that you let me know.

Thanks...

Les,

You are not an english spoken native for sure. Do you speak spanish? If so, let put my answer in portuguese (which can be easily understood by you):

Cumprimentos.

Rui

Hi Les,

A discussion of median ranks as it relates to probability plotting can be found at http://www.weibull.com/LifeDataWeb/probability_plotting.htm. Additional information can also be found at:

http://www.weibull.com/LifeDataWeb/right_censored_suspended_data.htm

I hope this helps.
