Hi
We recently picked up our plastic closures becoming brittle during the production process. From what I understand, these plastic closures need to be conditioned for about 48hrs before use, which we are doing at 30deg. C. We still however have this problem of them becoming brittle. Does anyone know of an idea to keep these closures elastic. I am currently looking at UV lights but it does not look viable. From my research, I found that these closures cool down and become brittle in about 2 hours...,

If I understand correctly, these plasic enclosures cool within 2 hours. Do you mean that the manipulation of the enclosures takes 48 hours? Or, do they wait before manipulation for 48 hours?

Next: What operations are being performed on the enclosures? Are these operations being performed at 30C?

Next: What type of plastic?

Final set: When were they identified as being brittle? Was there a change to the process? Or, have they always been found to be brittle in this process? Has there been an increase in throughput? Has there been a change in tooling?

Hi

There seems to be a problem with the one colour. During promotions, we started using turquoise closures and they seem to be a major issue. Does the colour affect the closure that much?
I have increased the temperature to 30deg. C in the conditioning store for now and I am monitoring the problems.

The closures are fed from the hopper to the capper to cap these bottles. The same tools are being used and they have been found to be brittle only recently.
