Hello all of you.
I have in the necesity to implement RCM where is alredy TPM ( a least first three steps). So although I know that they are complementary, I am trying to figure out how to approach or address this iniative. Could you give me your comments about it? I have not find any literature where talk about that.
thanks in advance for

You may find the linked Ron Moore article of interest.

Ron's book "Making Common Sense Common Practice" devotes a chapter to the subject.

Manolo,
My advice is "dont think of this as a problem". You are right - they are complimentary. If you think there may be a problem that needs to get sorted out, you may create one. RCM needs a living program that TPM provides. TPM needs the analytical thinking that RCM provides.
My thoughts - others may not have the same opinion. The big trap can be to have the two compete... that is the last thing you want.

Manolo - we practice both and without difficulty.
We have been doing TPM for over 10 years now - challenging Level 3 JIPM award this year - and I am both a trained RCM facilitator and Pillar 3 (Preventive Maintenance Pillar) coordinator.
RCM fits very nicely into the Pillar 3 format and hence we are presenting this as one of our P3 strategies.

If I can be of any more assistance please don't hesitate.

Mike.

Manolo,

I served as a TPM Senior Engineer before in a manufacturing firm and have been in your shoes, finally I was able to understand how to fit RCM perfectly into TPM.

For a start, TPM have 8 pillars and one of them is Planned Maintenance, RCM will fit into the planned maintenace structure. If you have implemented planned maintenance together with autonomous maintenance, kindly let me know how do you do the planned maintenance steps or phases, then I will tell you where RCM fits.

You may email me personally at rollyangeles@rsareliability.com if you have further questions.

For a start, you might want to read this thread

Hi Rolly,

Your replies are very kind and appreciated but I would like to make a comment. Red Face

When you take the discussion to email or link to your own web site - the other 10,000 members of the forum miss out on the learning.

Of course - we will not attempt to control or censor any conversations here but we have noticed a tendancy of the Solution Providers to want to take the conversations off forum.

Remember that the person who originated the post - did so here on the forum - so I would guess he/she if A-OK with the discussion taking place right here.

You are a great contributor to the forums and a very friendly soul Big Grin so I hope you will not take offense with my using this post as an example.

Thanks

Terry O

I think RSAReliability is complimentary to this website in terms of content.

Some take discussion offline for avoiding mentioning possibly sensitive issues publicly (simply to avoid lawsuits) or there is probably commercial interests.
