I am looking for a quick primer on reliability engineering. A case study requires a decision on the amount of testing done for a hypothetical product. Can anyone point me in the right direction to determine if the results of the test (time to failure and number of failures) are robust enough to call the test satisfactory? Thanks!!

A very thorough but quick primer is the CRE Primer designed for preparing to take the ASQ certified reliability engineer exam.
The primer is available from: http://www.qualitycouncil.com/cre_p.asp Steve Shores |

I have read handbook of Reliability Engineering with a chapter on robust testing.
Handbook of Reliability Engineering and Management by W. Grant Ireson, Clyde F. Coombs, Richard Y. Moss Handbook of Reliability Engineering and Management |

If you give me the data you´ve got I may try to provide you with some results. Meanwhile, why don´t you take a look to the excellent Reliability eTextbooks from Reliasoft?

As a student, I am sure that your funds are limited.
You can directly download several MIL HDBK (Military Handbooks) on the very subjects that you are looking for. I have set up two that will fit your need: MIL HDBK 338B: Electronic Reliability Design Handbook MIL HDBK 781A: Handbook for Reliability Test Methods, Plans, and Environments for Engineering, Development, Qualification and Production Both are public domain. You will also find the original Nowlan & Heap Reliability-Centered Maintenance book. http://www.motordiagnostics.com/presentations.htm Sincerely, Howard Howard W Penrose, Ph.D., CMRP President, SUCCESS by DESIGN Reliability Services Author: "Physical Asset Management for the Executive (Caution: Don't Read this on an Airplane)" and; "Electrical Motor Diagnostics: 2nd Edition" |

Cannot open the Mil Std for Procedure for FMECA, it says file is damaged etc.

Then it only partially downloaded. You probably timed-out.
Right click on the link, then select 'save target as' and download the document to your computer. I have "saved target as" many times and successful for other files but this is a bad actor to me. It saved very quickly but when opened, the system said "there was an error in opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired"
