The School of Hard Knocks. That personal objective works. Tried and true. For Example If I tried to stop Donald Trump on the street, or even on the golf course "FOUR", what do you think would be the outcome. That's right, he will keep on walking and more than likely ignore me altogether. Now if I e-mailed him, and requested a meeting. Now I;ll get a response, maybe...LOL.

I only have a 5min drive also. Semi traffic keeps me from riding a bike. Normally I arrive at the plant 1hr before everyone else. This allows me to make coffee and review all the maintenance & operational logs from the evening and graveyard shifts to see if there is something that needs immediate attention. When the rest of the crew arrives we start our day off with a safety talk and the a short informal open talk session. I like structure to my day but this too burns me out sometimes so I will chose a day or tow a month to shuffle my routine. This seems to help even though I do sacrifice some efficiency for those days.

I begin the day by reviewing new email, and listening to any new phone messages. Possibly reorganizing my day depending on what the incoming correspondence has done to my workplan. Then get down to it. (I don't drink coffee.)

I begin the day by reviewing the shift logs of the past 24 hrs as well as any new fault notifications. This lets me know what has been going on in my absence and to plan/ tweak the day's plan.

Then it's the departmental meeting where jobs are distributed, status updates are made etc. After that it's the joint operations meeting where all maintenance depts and operations depts meet to discuss the day's schedule.

I have a plan before i leave each evening.
Each morning when I walk in I review what Tech's worked on since i left, what didn't get completed, and any failures overnight that was not addressed. Prioritize these items with the plan from the day before and get started. afte production gets rolling I meet with them to address any changes or updates from the day before, we try to keep a running 4 day ahead schedule (which needs modified each day). then with that information and the previously mentioned information, along with our preventative schedule i develop a plan of attack for the next day or two knowing it will need modified periodically. I generally spend an hour a day with this, occasionally more when a fluid situation arises. I have found having a plan that changes allows me to adapt much easier to unexpected issues and to re-prioritize than trying to plan each morning for the day ahead. It is to easy to miss things.

As the plant maintenance and reliability engineer in am trying to do two jobs. I start by checking my email for safety related issues before our mechanics do stretching. We all stretch together to get warmed up for the day and then a tool box is given. Tool box explains what we are doing for the day and a brief safety discussion. I then go back up to my office and respond to any emails that need my attention and then i go out into the plant and review work that is going on. I then check up on all the capital projects i am in charge of. My day goes really fast. This was an interesting topic.

We start the day by joining a short start-up meeting with different departments each day for 15 minutes, then attend our own 15 min meeting with my team. By the time we have all the agenda covered i go to the shopfloor to witness and observe the TPM Autonomus Maintenance at work by the Operators, get some inputs and suggestions from them on how to further improve their activities. If there are Fuguais (Abnormalities) that needsto be tagged then we do the tagging and record to the logbook for the technician to plan for restoration (immediate or scheduled). Afte the walk about, time to have my breakfast with my apprentice. Check my emails and work on my schedulked tasks.
