I am a university student doing a presentation on life cycle costing does anyone have any simple examples that i could use???

Lara, there is some good life cycle analysis stuff on the aemp.org website, but it will cost you $105/year for full membership rights as a university student. Probably a good deal if you're looking to do analysis on heavy equipment.

Look into the UNIFE LCC group website: http://www.unife.org/workgroups/lcc_1.htm and download any documents located in Documents & Publications. Despite they apply to the railways, I find them quite general in scope.
