Hi
I have been requested to conduct an energy saving project for the plant. I am busy looking at alternatives to measure the energy consumption on our electrical equipment. I would like to look at start-ups of various motors in the plant and look at the power transients. Afterwards, I am going to look at alternatives to reduce power consumption. If you have used a specific equipment with success, please let me know. Regards, |

My company is monitoring a water treatment plant in NYC as part of an initiative to reduct overall power consumption through intelligent monitoring. We're doing it with software at this point, and are in the process of embedding the same intelligence on a COTS box.

One thing in some plants: more HP than needed or required. Too much overkill which ends up costing more.
Sometimes equipment is left running for no reason or operational issues. A fan will be running in winter when only need in summer. The list of these types goes on. If you have a fully integrated SAP program it will be of great assistance. Others may do the same? Cordially, Sam Pickens pdmsampickens@gmail.com |

Hi
Thanks for the replies. Sam Pickens:"If you have a fully integrated SAP program it will be of great assistance. " Sam I would like to know how you utilise SAP for monitoring equipment. We moved onto SAP in 2003 and still having issues with config, PM Tasks, Scheduling, etc. If you could send me some info, I would appreciate it, as there are instances where the plant runs equipment that is not necessary. Thanks for the reply again! Regards, |
