I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this topic, but none of the other forums seem to fit the content. I was perusing Amazon.com and I came across the following book: "Engineering Maintenance Management" by Benjamin W. Niebel. It looked interesting, but the copyright says 1994. Has anyone read this book and can tell me whether or not it would be worthwhile to purchase it?

Have not read this book. Somebody already posted the same thing before as per the link below.

My concern is that the Maintenance Field has changed in the 11 years since this particular book was published. If it deals with fundamentals, then I'm pretty sure the book will still be useful. But if it gets into specific methodologies then there might be other books that would provide better value containing more current information.

The basic ideas remain the same but we can make a difference depending on the effectiveness of implementation. For example,
1) Planning & scheduling is always a good idea but do you really use this feature in the CMMS? 2) Economic quantity of order for spares, the formula remains the same but do you really use it while ordering materials? 3) Maint plan is required to prevent breakdown etc but how extensive is our prev maint program?
