We are currently in the process of PM optimization and are looking at our steam turbine generator. The PM is mainly a 5-year rebuild and an annual electrical check of the commutator and excitator. We do perform vibration and oil testing on both units as well. Does anyone else of an example of their PMs that they can share, forward to me, or resources on the net that may help? From your rebuild & other maintenance actions, have you managed to identify the failure mechanisms for the generator's various components? I think the maintenance program should directed towards the failure mechanisms.
