Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) A simple google search yields many links. There are many vendors providing such a system.

I found dthe Isograph one. If we are talking about equipment failures, these should be captured inside CMMS. I think this FRACAS is a similar to Meridium asset performance software. Basically they are data analysis softwares which can be interfaced and added on to CMMS.

Why don't you consider the SAP PMIS for basic data analysis first before other softwares?

Josh, I'm not sure the FRACAS is a software or not? But I think that's methodology in reliability engineering.

So, now I discuss with our IT personnel the way to improvement the PMIS.

It's a methodology which can be computerised. I guess anything that has a standard process can be computerised.

Curious. FRACAS has almost the same letters as spanish word "fracasó" which means failed.

Hm.. looking at the letter soup, it wouldn't be appealing in portuguese either, "fracasso" means loser/failed.

Anybody knows why the popular Ford Pinto never made it in Brazil, or the Mitsubishi Pajero in other parts of the world? Big Grin

Failure reporting and corrective action method used by the military.

From the Relex.com website:

quote:
Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS) provide a framework for controlling corrective action processes. The FRACAS process may also be referred to as DRACAS (Data Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System), or PRACA (Problem Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System), as well as CA (Corrective Action) systems, and other acronyms. At its core, FRACAS is a comprehensive closed-loop corrective action system which enables you to collect, quantify, and control a wide range of incoming incident reports, such as test data, field data, or repair data. A FRACAS aims to control the process to ensure that product reliability and quality objectives are met. Relex ® FRACAS provides a comprehensive framework which supports a broad range of process management methods based on individual needs and requirements.

Thanks to wikipedia now I know, in PR it is called Mitsubishi Montero and it is a very popular SUV. Also, a model called Montero Nativa was marketed later, the Nativa is the Pajero Sport.

For the details of the probable marketing name change/strategy ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Pajero

ReliaSoft also has a FRACAS system called XFRACAS. ReliaSoft’s XFRACAS (formerly known as QTMS) is a Web-based, closed-loop, incident (failure) reporting, analysis and corrective action software system (FRACA / FRACAS) designed for the acquisition, management and analysis of product reliability, quality and safety data from multiple sources, along with the management of problem resolution activities.

The XFRACAS software system provides a complete array of FRACA / FRACAS / DRACAS, team-based problem solving and related activities. This Web-based FRACAS is highly configurable, allowing you to customize the system to meet your organization's particular needs - no custom programming required. An introduction to some of the features can be found at http://www.reliasoft.com/xfracas/features.htm.

I hope this helps.

GM had a similar problem to Ford and Mitsubishi in Spanish-speaking areas. The Chevy named Nova was a little to close to...No Va! or basically, "It won't Go! Eeker
