A film was made in 1963 telling the story called "The Great Escape" if you're ever in Britain at christmas time you can't miss it, its on TV every year.

Hi Rolly - yes one of the great movies.
A list cast at that time - excellent renactment of what actually happened.
Steve Mcqueen was one of the stars.
